Discovered new fish species: Freshwater fish study and survey with Swedish scientist in 2014. Discovered new fish species Danio annulosus. It is a small freshwater fish species belonging to the family Cyprinidae and subfamily Danioninae. Molecular analysis based on the mitochondrial COI gene confirmed that Danio annulosus is genetically distinct from closely related species such as Danio catenatus, with a divergence of about 3.4%. It was formally described in 2015 by ichthyologists Sven O. Kullander, Michael Norén. This discovery represents an important addition to the biodiversity of Bangladesh, particularly within the ecologically rich hill stream systems of the Chittagong Hill Tracts.The species was discovered in a small rocky pool at the base of the Shuvolong Falls in the Kaptai Lake system, located in Rangamati district, southeastern Bangladesh. Its unique ringed pattern, restricted habitat, and genetic distinctiveness make it an important species for studies in taxonomy, biogeography, and conservation biology. The Shuvolong Falls are part of a hill waterfall system connected to Kaptai Lake and the Karnaphuli River basin.
